MVP MMA Case Study: Messaging Architecture.
Deliverable 5 of 5. Independent portfolio case study built only from public information; not affiliated with or endorsed by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) or the Professional Fighters League (PFL). Bracketed IDs refer to MVP MMA Case Study: Source Log. Company-reported figures are labeled. Messages are proposed language from Town Squared Strategies, not company statements. Source cutoff: September 25, 2026.
Bottom line
MVP MMA's story is simple: PFL's fighters, MVP's reach, and a fighter offer with numbers behind it. Fans already tell this story themselves. Two of the highest-scoring positive comments in the merger thread describe PFL as having the talent and MVP as having the audience [D2]. The architecture has four pillars: continuity, fighter commitments, reach, and leadership. Each pillar pairs every claim with a sourced proof point. Where no proof exists yet, the message waits.
Rules for every message
- Claim plus proof. Every claim appears with a proof point from the bank below. With no proof, there is no claim.
- "Fighter-first" is paused. It returns only when the pay commitments are public, and it always appears next to one of them.
- Describe MVP, not the UFC. Say what MVP offers. Let fans and fighters make the comparison [D2].
- Distribution is "to be announced." Name no U.S. platform until an agreement is signed [P3].
- Say both names. Use "MVP MMA (formerly PFL)" through the first half of 2027, and pair "MVP MMA" with "Most Valuable Promotions" on first reference. This keeps search results pointing to the company rather than to fighter Michael "Venom" Page [D1].
Core narrative
One line: PFL's fighters, MVP's reach.
Short version (for releases and bios): MVP MMA brings together the Professional Fighters League's roster and Most Valuable Promotions' ability to draw an audience. On January 1, 2027, PFL becomes MVP MMA: the same fighters and champions on a bigger stage [P4, P3, P5].
Once commitments are announced, add: Every MVP MMA fighter is guaranteed [MINIMUM] and keeps their own sponsors [pending board approval; P10, P9].

Positioning against the UFC
Line: We are building the best home for fighters and the biggest stage for them. Fans can judge the rest.
Why: The UFC comparison is the leading frame in search and on Reddit, but fans mostly mock White's dismissal and argue MVP's case for it [D1, D2]. A company claim invites a rebuttal. A fan's claim does not.
Do not say: that MVP will overtake or "kill" the UFC, that the UFC underpays fighters, or anything about UFC contracts or signings beyond wishing the fighter well.
Words to use and avoid
| Use | Avoid | Why |
|---|---|---|
| "U.S. partner to be announced" | "Coming to Netflix," "TV deal done" | No U.S. partner is announced [P3]; 7 of 150 comments already assume Netflix [D2] |
| "MVP MMA (formerly PFL)" | Dropping "PFL" on January 1 | Audiences still search for PFL [D1] |
| "Co-founder Jake Paul" | "Jake Paul's league" | Ownership questions appear in 10 of 15 searches [D1]; describe roles, not ownership |
| "Fighters keep their own sponsors" (once extended) | "Fighter-first" alone | No proof, no claim |
| "John Martin led PFL through the merger" | Any reason for the exit | Only Martin's own statement is on record [P1] |
Holding lines
| Situation | Line |
|---|---|
| Leadership, before the naming | The board is completing its process. Operations and events continue as planned, including PFL Chicago on October 16. |
| Martin's exit | John led PFL through the merger, and we are grateful. Our focus is the transition. |
| U.S. partner, before January 1 | We will announce our U.S. partner when an agreement is final. |
| U.S. partner, after January 1 | PFL is now MVP MMA: the same champions and the same fighters. We will name our U.S. partner before our first event and share where to watch as soon as it is final. |
| No U.S. partner at launch | MVP MMA events reach fans around the world through our international partners. We will announce a U.S. partner when an agreement is final. (Relationships to be maintained per P5; confirm brand terms, W12.) |
| UFC signs an MVP or PFL fighter | We wish [FIGHTER] well. Our focus is our roster and the fighters building their careers here. |
| Public fighter pay complaint | We take that seriously and are speaking directly with [FIGHTER]'s team. We will share our commitments to all fighters on [DATE]. |
| Jake Paul controversy | Jake's fights and statements are Jake's to discuss. The company will comment if it is directly involved. |
Measuring message pull-through
The monitoring service measures whether these messages land, using the same codebooks as the baseline [D1, D2]:
- Gain framing. The share of Reddit comments framing the merger as a gain (F2) or praising pay (F3) rises from 4 and 4 of 150 [D2].
- Netflix misconception. Comments assuming a Netflix deal fall from 7 of 150 [D2].
- Owned answers. Company pages appear for the CEO, fighter pay, and where-to-watch searches (Workflows 1 and 2).
- Rule compliance. Company content audits show zero uses of "fighter-first" without a proof point.
